Lawn Fertilizing For Every Season

Fertilizing a lawn is a task that can be completed throughout the year. However, it's important to remember that the season in which you decide to perform this step will determine the effectiveness and the outcome of the fertilization process. Make sure you know what fertilizing in every season of the year can mean to your lawn.

Spring

The spring season is synonymous with fertilizer application, and if you want to have a beautiful and healthy lawn during the summer, you should fertilize during this time of the year. Fertilizing in the spring works as somewhat of a stimulant for your yard in that it can help your grass grow faster. Keep in mind, in addition to helping your lawn grow, the fertilizer can also help stifle the growth of the weeds that may have developed in earlier months.

Summer

Fertilizing your lawn during the summer is somewhat of an optional step. For the most part, the harsher the climate you live in, such as the higher the temperatures in the summer, the more likely it is that you need to fertilize during this time of the year. High temperatures can somewhat scorch grass, which can cause the lawn to turn brown and reduce its growth rate. Fertilizing during the summer helps combat these problems.

Fall

Fertilizing during the fall months is primarily about weed control. While it would seem that growth would reduce during the fall, it's not the case when it comes to weeds. Weeds often go haywire during this time of the year. Fertilizing during this period helps prevent weeds from germinating in your lawn, which can help make your lawn care and maintenance responsibilities much easier during both the fall and winter.

Winter

A winter fertilization application is about preparation. Remember, a beautiful and healthy lawn might reveal itself in the spring, but it's developed during the winter. Fertilizing your lawn in the winter won't produce any immediate effects, but it does provide the ground with excellent nutrients. As a result, by the time the temperature increases, your grass will grow faster, so you'll enjoy the beauty of a plush lawn faster.

If you're not entirely certain what your lawn needs, but you know you want to apply a fertilizer, it's best to contact a professional. A lawn care professional, like those at Texas Green Turf, can assess the condition of your lawn and take into consideration the time of the year to help you determine what fertilization techniques will work best.

About Me

Creating Gorgeous Landscapes

After struggling for quite some time to make my yard prettier, I realized that I just didn't have the skills I needed to take care of things on my own. I began talking with various landscapers about the issue, and they were really fantastic to work with. They helped me with everything from planning the hardscaping to identifying various land grading issues that needed to be resolved, and it really felt like I was making progress. On my website, I decided to start talking with other people about how to create gorgeous, functional landscapes, since it can make a big difference for your property.
